Interviewing Tip of the Month: "Tell me about yourself."
The "tell me about yourself" question is extremely common, yet few job seekers know how to answer it effectively. Stand out in your next interview by nailing it:
- Cover four topics: early years, education, work history and recent career experience. Emphasize this last subject, but don't give everything away.
- Keep it short. A minute or two at most. It's a "warm-up" question and you'll have time to get into more detail later.
- Stay focused. Avoid personal or irrelevant information.
- Keep it clean. No weekend "activities" should be mentioned!
- Practice it. Again and again, so you'll answer it confidently and set a great tone for the rest of the interview.

Get Your Giggle On
Laughing lowers levels of stress hormones and strengthens the immune system. Six-year-olds laugh an average of 300 times a day. Adults only laugh 15 to 100 times a day. So if you're feeling stressed, find a good (clean) joke online and share it with your co-workers. |
