Safety Tip: Protect Yourself from Hearing Loss
Noise-related hearing loss is one of the most prevalent -- yet easily prevented -- health concerns in the U.S. If you work in noisy conditions, take the proper precautions to minimize the potential for long-term hearing loss:
- Know the warning signs. Conditions might be too noisy if you: hear ringing or humming in your ears when you leave work; have to shout to be heard by a co-worker an arm's length away; or experience temporary hearing loss when leaving work.
- Wear the right equipment. Hearing protection devices (HPDs), such as earmuffs and ear plugs, are a simple way to control noise exposure. Be sure to wear equipment supplied by your site supervisor.
- Report potentially hazardous conditions. Alkar Human Resources wants you to stay safe on the job. If noise levels are a concern while you're on assignment with our client, tell your staffing coordinator immediately.
